Join Us In District 7 SKYWARN^®!

If you'd like to become a member of District 7 SKYWARN^®:

• You will need to take a basic spotter training course. These courses are free.


• Online: Visit the NWS Morristown Virtual SKYWARN Spotter Training website. It consists of four interactive sections to complete, followed by a final exam that must be taken to receive credit.


• In-person: In-person classes are usually scheduled in January-March. Please check the MRX Spotter Training Classes schedule.


• You will receive your trained weather spotter certificate and wallet card in a PDF emailed to you from the Morristown NWS (MRX) office. Please understand that it may take up to two weeks may pass between completing the exam and receiving your spotter ID card and certificate. If you have any questions regarding spotter training classes, please read the MRX Spotter Training Classes page for contact information.


• Please contact your county coordinator and ask for a new spotter application form. They will get back to you.

NOTE: You don't have to have an amateur radio license but it helps! We also use GMRS.
